Sohna (Sleep)

I must have fallen asleep sometime because the next thing I remember is being woken up sunlight streaming through the window. I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling trying to gather my thoughts. I started to get up and felt something holding me down. I looked down at my waist and saw a arm wrapped solidly around me and glanced over to see Alex sleeping soundly next to me. I laid my head back down and looked at him.

Sleeping he looked younger and if it was possible even hotter. His hair was sleep rumpled and falling into his eyes and he had a slight smile on his face as he slept, as if he was having a happy dream. I raised my eyes back to his and found him staring back at me. He smiled and said in a husky morning voice "good morning" and leaned over to place a kiss softly on my lips. He used the hand on my waist to pull me closer to him and I laid my head on his arm.

We lay their quietly looking at each other and slowly waking up when a knock on the door startled us both. A moment later I heard Jack asking if he could come in. I was about to say yes when I realized what Alex in my room at 7 in the morning would look like. It was obvious he'd spent the night here and I knew that Jack would not be happy. However much he loved Alex and liked us together a couple, spending the night even totally innocently was not something he'd tolerate. 

"Just a minute" I told Jack and leaned over to whisper is Alex's ear "hide"

He looked at me in surprise and whispered "why"

"Because if Jack walks in here and finds you in bed with me, he is going to kill you" I said as I tried, unsuccessfully to push him out of bed. Frustrated I looked at him and pleaded "please Alex. Just trust me on this"

He looked like he wanted to argue some more but he must have decided against it because he reluctantly got up and said "where do you want me to hide"

I looked around my room and told him to hide on the other side of bed right next to the wall. He looked at me incredulously and said "do you really think I can fit in there"

"I don't know but I know you'll at least try" I said with a smile and reached up to give him a lingering kiss before pushing him towards the bed.

I walked to the door and looked back to make sure Alex was totally hidden and then opened the door. Jack must been about to knock again because he had hand raised and looked startled when I opened the door. I laughed at his expression and asked "whats up? Why are you waking me up so early"?

He stepped into the room and seemed to be looking around so I tried to muster up my most convincing confused look as I asked "what are you looking for"

Jack looked at me with a look on his face I couldn't decipher and then shaking his head slowly said "nothing. I was...I woke you up to tell you that mom & dad called. They are going to stay in Reno another few days after the conference is over. They said they are going to take a break. And I have some bad news. I need to go to San Fransisco for a few days. Our research group finally got a meeting with the CEO of GemTech. The meetings not till Friday but we're going down tonight to get set up and prepared for the meeting"

"Wait so are you still going to the store here in town to do the days counting?" I asked

He nodded yes and then said "I won't be here for Kevin's funeral but I'll be back by his memorial service even if I have to leave early"

I nodded and said "Okay. Are you coming back here after doing things at the store or heading out from there"

"I think I'm going to leave from the store. I'd waste another 45 minutes coming back here when the highway is a 2 minute drive from the store"

"Okay then. I'm going to get ready and I'll meet you downstairs in 10 minutes. I'll make you some breakfast before you leave" I said

Jack nodded and started to turn away when he stopped abruptly. I'd been closing the door behind him and stumbled as I ran into his back. I started to ask him what was up when I turned around and went back into my room. He stopped on side of the bed and said "get out Alex. I know you're hiding there"

I felt my face heat up as I tried to figure out how Jack had figured out that Alex was hiding in my room. I heard Alex shuffling around and then he got up. I expected his face to be as red as mine but it was wasn't. In fact his face was totally serious as he looked Jack straight in the eye. I watched them communicating silently and braced myself in case I had to stop them from killing each other.

To say I was shocked, when a moment later Jack and Alex started smiling, would have been a understatement. I looked at them both in confusion and they started laughing at me. Alex walked over to me and put his arm around my waist pulling me tight against his side. He turned my chin up and looked at me as he said "don't worry. We aren't going to hurt each other"

Jack nodded to agree and then said "though Alex knows if he ever does anything to hurt you I will kill him"



A moment later Jack left the room and Alex headed to grab his bag so we could all get ready. I showered and got ready first and headed downstairs to make some waffles so the boys got ready.

As I poured the batter into the waffle iron I heard Jack come into the kitchen. I turned around to face him and said "I need to talk to you about something"

He looked at me as he fixed his coffee and asked "what"

"I...I want to you to not tell mom & dad about whatever's going on between Alex & me...
