A few hours later, my head was still trying to come to terms with what Merry had told me. My brain had started to over analyze everything that Kevin had said or done in the last year and I was starting to get a headache. As I walked outside to the car, I looked around to see if I could find Jack but instead found Kevin walking towards me and calling my name. I desperately wanted to pretend that I hadn't heard him but lost the opportunity when I took too long to decide.


"Are you okay" he asked, falling into step beside me

"I...I'm fine" I said feeling awkward around him for the first time

He stopped and turned to look at me "You don't look fine and you're acting really weird"

"I said I was fine, Kev so stop with the interrogation" I snapped. Kevin looked startled at my sharp words and was about to say something when I interrupted "Sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you. But I really am not in the mood to talk right now so I'll just talk to you later okay?"

I walked over to Jack who had been standing there waiting for me as I talked to Kevin. He looked like he wanted to say something but was hesitating "What, Jack?"

"What is going on with today? You just yelled at Kevin for no damn reason and you have been walking around looking either lost or angry all day" he said

"I AM FINE, JACK. You all really need to stop asking me that" I said.

"If your fine today that I don't want to see you crazy" he said. He looked at me and then softly asked "What's wrong Rory? I know you and you don't act like this unless something is bothering you"

For a second I wanted to spill my guts to Jack and let him figure this entire thing out for me but then common sense returned. "I'm fine, Jack. I really am. Something just happened today that I haven't had to chance to figure out yet, but I will" I said softly.

I really didn't want to talk or think about any of the things I had learned today I tried to change the subject "How's Amy" I asked Jack. Amy was Jack's girlfriend of almost 5 months. She was a junior just like him and she was pretty cool to hang out with.

"She's fine. She has a soccer game at Madison tonight so they a little while ago" he said

"Are you going to the game" I asked thinking that Madison was only an hour drive and I would be fun to get out of Rover.

He laughed and asked "What am I going to tell mom and dad? That I'm going to drive an hour to go to a soccer game. They are already getting suspicious because I've been going to a lot of these games lately"

"You could always tell them the truth" I said, "That you are going to go watch your girlfriend place soccer"

I ducked as him tried to smack my head and laughing asked "What? Why are you hitting me?"

"You are going to get me killed, if I listen to you" he said. "If mom and dad were ever to find out that I have a girlfriend, they would kill me. They don't understand"

I stopped laughing and said "I know exactly how you feel"

Jack glanced at me and said "Oh so that's what happened today"

I turned sharply to look at him and asked "What are you talking about"

He smiled "You finally figured out that you are half in love in love with Kevin"

Shocked I just started at him "How do you know that? How did you know that I have feelings for Kevin?"

"I'm your big brother, Ror. I love you but sometimes you are so oblivious", he said
